Praise Songs is a collection of poetry that draws on the spirit of African griots who celebrate their subjects in words. These poems are rooted in both the tropical world – the Caribbean and Mexico – and the temperate, while the language shifts from sombre requiem to gleeful rhymes invoking sounds of rain and river and song. Jane Ulysses Grell conjures up a vivid landscape that embraces both the traditional and the modern and explores journeys, memories and loss with both tenderness and exuberance.

This is Jane’s first collection of poetry for adults.

Praise Songs is produced by Papillote People’s Press.
