Remembering Clayton Shillingford

Dr Clayton Shillingford, who sadly died last month, was one of 22 Dominican returnees who featured in Home Again: Stories of Migration and Return. In this book, Dr Shillingford, who was born in 1936, described his childhood in Roseau, his working life as a scientist in the US and the Caribbean and his thoughts about returning to Dominica.

He said: ‘If Dominicans want to come back, they should come. We need change and that won’t come about if folks keep their mouth shut.’
